WHAT IS A WEST FACING HOUSE?

 

According to vastu ‘the facing of a house’ refers to the direction in which the main entrance of a house is located. In other words, the facing of a house is the direction in which you face while stepping out of the main entrance of your house. So, if you are facing West direction while going out of the main entrance, it will be considered a West facing house.

 

 

When it comes to a West facing property, one of the most important things that you need to take into consideration is the main entrance of the house.

It is the main entrance from where the cosmic energy enters into a house which plays a vital role in the lives of the inhabitants of that house. Thus, it is the very first step to identify the house orientation in order to make it vastu compliant according to Secret Vastu.

The following things must correspond to the vastu principles to make a West facing home auspicious–

FINDING THE DIRECTION OF THE HOUSE–

 

Finding the facing of your house is extremely important as a difference of even 3-4 degrees will make the entire calculation of 16 vastu zones inaccurate and then it will be difficult for you to find out the root cause of the problems. Finding the accurate facing of the house is not a rocket science. All you need to do is to follow these steps:

 

• First of all, stand outside of the main entrance of your house with house at your back and the compass in your hand. Stand with your back parallel to the house.
• Hold the compass flat (horizontally) on your palm in front of your chest.
• Now, let the compass needle (usually a red or green colored orienting arrow) float freely until the zero degree mark on the compass and the North end of the needle are aligned. It will determine the magnetic North.
• After confirming the magnetic North, write down the direction which you are facing.
• You will now have an accurate facing.

 

While Using A Compass, Make Sure To Remember The Following:

 

• Remove all the magnetic objects around the compass
• Remove all jewellery on hands
• Hold the compass at waist level
• In order to determine the accurate direction, take at least 3-4 readings in and outside the property and confirm the one which you get the maximum number of times.

 

THE PLACEMENT OF MAIN DOOR/ENTRANCE–

 

As per the principles stated in vastu shastra there are 32 gates out of which 9 gates are considered very auspicious and 2 out of these 9 gates are located in the West direction.

The main entrance of any West facing house should be located in the following Padas (gates)-

 

• W3 or Sugriva (247.5° - 259°)
• W4 or Pushpdanta (259° - 270°)

WEST FACING HOUSE VASTU – 9 DO’S-

2- West is one of the best directions for a kid’s bedroom. The bedroom in this zone ensures gains in every field of life.

3- West-South-West (WSW) is the zone of education and knowledge. Hence, a study room in this zone is good for educational purposes. 

4- South-East (SE) is the preferred zone for the kitchen. In case; this zone is not available, then the next best zone is North-West (NW).

5- The most auspicious direction for the placement of the master bedroom is South-West (SW). 

6- North-East is considered the most sacred zone of the house. Therefore, locate the pooja room (prayer room) in the North-East of your house.

7- You should leave more open space in North and East direction of the house. It will be extremely beneficial for financial gains. 

8- The overhead water tank can be placed in the west direction.

9- You can make a guest room in the North-West (NW) zone.

 

WEST FACING HOUSE VASTU – 7 DON’TS-

2- A West facing plot having an extension in the South-West (SW) must be avoided as it will lead to calamities.

3- The kitchen is not recommended in the North-East (NE) zone. It will cause severe health related issues and you may also lose the clarity of mind.

4- Vastu prohibits to construct irregular shaped rooms.

5- Underground water tank, bore wells in the South-West (SW) is strictly prohibited.

6- Walls in the West zone should not be painted in green color as it is an anti-color for this zone.

7- Do not place the overhead water tank in the North-East (NE) zone.
